Satima and Dragon’s Teeth Hike

Morning:
Start your adventure with an early pick-up from your Nairobi hotel at 6:30 AM. Travel in a comfortable vehicle for approximately 3-4 hours, enjoying scenic views as you journey towards the Aberdare National Park, located north of Nairobi.
Upon arrival at the park gates, complete any necessary formalities and registration procedures. Enjoy a light breakfast with refreshments while your guide prepares for the hike.

Mid-Morning:
After breakfast, it’s time for the main event! Embark on the challenging hike towards the summit of Mount Satima. The initial part of the trail leads through scenic scrubland, gradually transitioning into moorland with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Your experienced guide will set the pace, share interesting facts about the park’s flora and fauna, and ensure your safety throughout the climb.
Approximately halfway through the hike, you’ll reach the awe-inspiring Dragon’s Teeth rock formations. These jagged volcanic spires rise dramatically from the moorland, creating a unique and otherworldly landscape. Take a well-deserved break to capture photos and enjoy the panoramic views.

Afternoon:
After a short break, continue the challenging climb towards the summit of Mount Satima, reaching an elevation of approximately 4,000 meters (13,123 feet). The final stretch might require some scrambling, but the breathtaking views from the top will be well worth the effort. Savor the sense of accomplishment and capture memorable photos at the peak.
Begin the descent following the same trail, taking your time to enjoy the scenery from a different perspective. Find a scenic spot for a picnic lunch with stunning views, provided by your guide. Refuel and rehydrate before continuing the trek down.

Late Afternoon:
After a challenging but rewarding hike, depart from the Aberdare National Park and start the journey back to Nairobi. Relax on the scenic drive, reflecting on the day’s adventures and the incredible landscapes you conquered. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel by approximately 6:30 PM.
