Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Arusha

  • Upon your arrival in Arusha from Nairobi, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will meet your guide for a pre-climb briefing. Take this opportunity to rest and prepare for the upcoming trek. Overnight stay in Arusha.

Day 2 : Arusha to Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Momella Gate (1,500m) to commence your trek. Begin your ascent through lush rainforest, witnessing diverse flora and fauna along the way. Enjoy lunch at Miriakamba Hut (2,514m) before continuing your journey through montane forest to reach Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 : Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before setting off for Saddle Hut (3,570m). Trek through heather and moorland zones, soaking in panoramic views of Mount Meru and its surroundings. Enjoy lunch en route and arrive at Saddle Hut in the afternoon. Rest and prepare for the summit push. Dinner and overnight stay at Saddle Hut.

Day 4 : Saddle Hut to Summit to Miriakamba Hut

Rise before dawn for an early start to the summit. Begin the challenging ascent to the summit of Mount Meru (4,566m), traversing rocky terrain and alpine desert. Reach the summit in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the East African plains. Descend back to Saddle Hut for breakfast before continuing your descent to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 : Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate to Arusha

After breakfast, descend through the montane forest to Momella Gate where you will bid farewell to Mount Meru. Transfer back to Arusha for lunch and onward travel arrangements, marking the end of your Mount Meru adventure.
